Trading Schedule for US Labor Day, September 7, 2026
US Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7, and the long weekend pulls forward the close on almost every major venue. US shares stop pricing for the day; indices, metals and energy all wrap up early. Here is the instrument-level schedule.
US Labor Day falls on the first Monday of September, which this year is Monday, September 7. New York takes the day off, and because the US session sets the tone for the back half of the trading day, the effect reaches well beyond American instruments.
Nothing closes for the whole day except US shares. Everything else keeps its normal open and simply finishes early, so the practical question is not whether you can trade on Monday but how late you can stay in a position before the book shuts.

Two details are worth marking on the calendar. Brent stops at 20:30, a full hour before WTI and the metals, so an energy spread held across the close will sit half-open for that hour. And with US shares not pricing at all, any CFD Shares US position you carry into Monday cannot be adjusted until Tuesday.
Thin holiday liquidity also tends to exaggerate moves in the instruments that stay open, so stops that normally sit comfortably outside the noise can be reached on flow that would be absorbed on an ordinary Monday.
Normal hours resume on Tuesday, September 8.
